Scor-Pal Paper Clutch
I still miss my computer, even though I got it back. Why? Well, Hubs has been writing grad school essays non stop, and he likes to use my computer because it’s faster and hooked up to a huge 22 inch monitor. There are so many things I want to blog about, but they’ll just have to wait until I can pry Hubs’ fingers away from my keyboard.
Now, for the project of the day. Since Leah asked about the Scor-Pal, I thought I’d post a really cool project that I got off of the Scor-Pal website. It’s a clutch handbag, and it’s completely made out of paper, ribbon, and embellishments! How cool is that?
I think this would make a totally cute favor for a bridal shower, filled with candy or other goodies. The clutch tutorial can be found here for anyone looking to try it out. Have fun!

Recipe: Making Memories patterned paper, ribbon from Michaels, Heidi Swapp flower, white button from Walmart, Scor-Pal use to score fold lines, Fiskar’s punch used to make holes for ribbon weaving
Now, answers to questions from yesterday’s post:
Leah asked:
Do you know where we can buy the Scor-Pal? Is it available at Michael’s?
It’s not available at Michaels; however, there are many stores online that sell it. You can purchase one directly from the Scor-Pal website. Papertrey Ink also sells it and they offer free shipping if you order at least $50. It’s a wonderful tool, and I use it everyday.
Anna asked:
I read in your FAQ that you use Photoshop and other photo editing programs to process your photos. How much do those programs cost? Did you buy each program individually? I am an amateur photographer and am thinking about buying photoshop but it is quite expensive. So I thought I would get your feedback first.
The price tag for Adobe Photoshop CS3 is quite expensive. I believe it’s $700 on Adobe’s website. In addition to Photoshop CS3, I also use Photoshop Lightroom (priced around $300) since I shoot in raw format. Do you shoot in raw? If so, I would first check out the free photo editing software that came with your camera. My Canon software had some pretty good features, though not as robust as Lightroom. However, if you just want to edit JPEG files, Adobe has a simpler editing program called Adobe Elements. And, it’s much cheaper, at $139. You might find that this scaled back version is just what you need. Photoshop, although powerful, might be overkill. Another editing option is Picnik. Picnik works with photo sharing sites, like Flickr, and allows you to edit the photos that you upload online, without installing any software on your computer. It’s free to try out, and $24.99/year for additional features.

Thanks so much for answering my questions about Photoshop! You were very helpful and informative. I didn’t realize Photoshop was THAT expensive! Altogether, that would be over $1,000 if I got CS3 and Lightroom. Do you think that is a good investment? Did you invest in both programs with the intention of starting your own photography business or just for personal use?
thanks for taking the time to put a spotlight on my question. decisions, decisions.. i’m so tempted!
Another good thing about photoshop! If you are a student or know someone that is a student, you can buy the eniter Adobe Creative Suite 3 collection (a $1200 value) for about $300. It’s a great deal. Not only do you get photoshop, but a number of other design softwares as well.
I am SOOO impressed with that adorable clutch!!!! In person do you feel like it would actually be usable as a clutch, or is it more of a favor-type of thing that you wouldn’t actually use?
@ one23mad – I know lots of students! Where would I go about getting that deal? Is there a website or promotion I can look at? Please let me know. Thank you!!

Question re: Photoshop/Lightroom …. How did you learn your skills? What books did you recommend? Did you learn all on your own?
