Tri-Fold Window Card

Dear Admissions Director,

My husband is applying to pursue a graduate degree at your school, and I’d like to recommend him as a viable candidate for your program. He is sharp, innovative, and is a well respected leader. I think he would contribute greatly to your school, and I highly recommend him. In fact, I’m pleading for you to accept him. You see, my husband used to help around the house, until he started writing the countless number of essays you require in your application process. He used to wash the dishes, take out the trash, and fold the laundry too. But, for the past two weeks, he has been glued to the computer. Now, the food bits on our dirty dishes have crusted over and our laundry has been in the dryer for a week. I think we even missed our trash day this week. So, Admissions Director, if you accept my husband into your MBA program, he can stop writing essays and I will finally have my clean house back. In return, I will gladly make you a lifetime supply of greeting cards.

Sincerely,
Kelly Nicole

Today’s card is a tri-fold with a window for my little birdie to peek through. The tutorial is here. Happy Stampin’!

Card Recipe: SU designer paper in Summer Picnic (111355), Hero Arts bird and tree stamps, Inkadinkado birthday sentiment stamp, SU So Many Scallops stamp set (retired), SU scalloped circle (109043) and  1.25″ circle 104403) punches, SU kraft and bashful blue card stock, SU chocolate chip ribbon, SU slit punch (104388), MM metal brad, SU colored pencils

And answers to yesterday’s questions are below (Sorry I can’t answer these during the day! I can’t access my blog from work, so my response time is 24 hours.:-))

Janie asked:

Question re: Photoshop/Lightroom … How did you learn your skills? What books did you recommend? Did you learn all on your own?

I learned mostly on my own, with the help of a few great tutorial books and a whole lot of Google. Two great reference books can be found here and here. Lightroom is pretty easy to learn, with Photoshop being more complex. Basic Photoshop skills for photo editing is not too hard to learn! I plan to write more posts on this topic in the future.:-)

Mrs. Cupcake asked about yesterday’s clutch purse:

do you feel like it would actually be usable as a clutch, or is it more of a favor-type of thing that you wouldn’t actually use?

It would most definitely not be usable as a clutch.:-)It’s more of a decorative paper favor thingy, like a mini gift bag. But, it’s mighty fun to make!

And Anna, I think the rest of your question got answered by another reader, so I’ll just answer this part:

Did you invest in both programs with the intention of starting your own photography business or just for personal use?

I had access to the Adobe programs through family, so thankfully I didn’t have to buy them. They’re simply for personal use, with no plans for a photography business (yet).

cute cute cute! :) does the ribbon tie around the card, or is it just decorative?

You are going to be responsible for me and my girlfriends spending money on paper and ending up with cards that are half as pretty.

As a noob to this, I’m wondering how does the inside of the card look like. Not this beautiful tri-fold one but those that you have ribbon and paper in other colours looking like they are wrapped around the front of the card. Do you cut the paper exactly so and paste it on?
