You Take The Cake – My First Video!
Today is Hubs and my one year anniversary!
It has been a wonderful, fulfilling year. It has not always been easy, but it has definitely been the best year of my life, thus far. Happy anniversary, Hunnie! I love you! Here’s to many more years of joy.
Today, I have a video for you! I realize that I have many blog readers who are new to the whole card making/stamping scene, yet are interested in getting started. So, Hubs thought it would be a good idea to film me making a card to share a real example–and not just photos–with everyone. On Saturday, Hubs filmed and edited this short clip. Hooray for Hubs!
The video clip took a bit of time and work to put together, so let me know if this is something you would be interested in seeing more often. If so, I’ll continue to make them periodically.
Song: I Feel it All – Feist
Watch the video in high quality here.
Here are a few more pictures of the card from the video.

oops, i forgot to add to my previous comment…
if you dont mind me asking…
what camera and editing program did your husband use to put together the video?
thanks!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I learned about 10 new tricks and my mind is just spinning on how to use them all. Your hard work is greatly appreciated, thank you for sharing!!
The video was awesome! I took a look at it on youtube and you’ve gotten almost 250 hits already on your first day of posting it up too! I think the large audience you’ve gained will be a great asset for your online store. Best of luck to you!
Hi everyone. First, I wanted to thank you all for supporting my wife’s blog. I’m really happy for her. It’s exciting to see so many excited about crafts because I often I have no idea what she is doing in her little craft room!
To address Cat (I heard you are engaged, congrats!) and kimberly’s question: we use a Flip Video Mino to shoot videos. It’s really simple to use– it’s like a point and shoot camera, but for videos. It runs about $140-$150. I highly recommend it if you like to take spontaneous videos… or craft projects.
As for an editing program, we use Windows Movie Maker. All of the effects Kelly will be using (she just learned on this first video) will be from this program since it’s easy-to-use and $free-99. If you have a Mac, which I had used prior to her PC, I HIGHLY recommend iMovie. I think that program is just as intuitive with a few more bells & whistles. However, Windows Movie Maker on Vista is still a great program to learn on. I hope that answers both of your questions!
And for all her readers, thanks again!
Hello. I followed you here from WB. First off Happy Anniversary and love the video! Second I’m a SU junkie too and always trying to find more time to spend in my craft room. I’m looking forward to making a paper clutch this weekend! Glad to find a new site to follow for inspiration
Before the video, I didn’t realize just how many pieces were custom made with such care and precision. My gosh, Kelly. Your cards are truly a masterpiece!
The video was great. Admittedly not so relevant to me, because I suck at crafting. But I’m sure those who love DIY will find them extremely helpful!
i can tell the video took a lot of work, but it definitely paid off. it shows so many aspects of your card making that could never be captured in a written tutorial, and shows me 1) how much talent goes into making the cards, and 2) how possible it is to do these myself, especially if i have a design template to compensate for my not having an eye like yours.
maybe you should just use videos when you’re introducing a new technique, or you can refer to a past video when you’re referencing a technique that you have video’d in the past.
Happy Anniversary……..your cards are so adorable and I can’t wait to order stamps. How do we make sure you get credit for it or it really doesn’t matter?
[...] birthday or thank you cards. These stamps are part of the same set as the cupcake stamp from my video [...]
kelly, this video rocks! not just because you like feist! ;P but you are so talented, and so generous with your knowledge! watching you in action is awesome! your cards are beautiful! i’ll be placing orders pretty soon! i have a lot of craft items, but i’m not as diligent as you are when it comes to projects.
i’m all about paying the person who loves to do it! hahaha. but great video! you and hubbie make a wonderful team. he’s so supportive of you, it’s very cute.
