Wonderful Words, Wonderful Stamps

My blog has been acting a bit funny lately. Articles were appearing on my Google reader, but when I loaded my page, they didn’t show up. The Chief Technology Officer for my site (a.k.a. little brother) said there was a problem with the super cache that he has since fixed. I’m so very grateful to have a computer savvy brother in the family. Gosh, I’d be a mess without him.

My girlie friend is coming over tomorrow and we’re going to bake! I can’t wait. While in Chicago a month ago, purchased a copy of Cooks Illustrated 2008 Holiday Baking Special. I’ve been dying to try the drool worthy jam thumbprint recipe. Yummy.

In today’s card below, the thank you sentiment is from a set that will be retiring in January. I also used a background stamp to create the illusion of my own designer paper. I’m a bit sad that Wonderful Words, one of my favorite stamp sets of all time, is being retired, so I’m going to use it as much as I can until the new catalog comes out. At least there will be a ton of new stuff in the spring/summer catalog to replace the sets that I’ll miss.

Card Recipe (all supplies SU unless noted): Wonderful Words, Bella Toile (background stamp), and A Rose is a Rose stamp sets, cardstock in very vanilla, bravo burgundy, and pink pirouette, ink in bravo bugundy, pink pirouette and kiwi kiss, hemp twine, stampin’ dimensionals

Okay, this seems like the stupidest question ever, but I’m kind of confused. If you already own the stamps, why do you need to use them as much as possible now? Your comment about “replacing the sets that you will miss” threw me for a loop. Does SU lease stamps and not actually sell them, and you have to return the sets you have? Like I said, even I think this is a silly question, but otherwise I’m confused why it sounds like you need to use it while you still can before it’s gone for good, if you already own it. Am I missing something about SU?

I have this set on my list to purchase….your card is gorgeous!

@Julie: I think she just means she wants to use them now before she gets distracted by all the new releases. :)

love how you used the background stamp to create the illusion of designer paper – i’ll probably have to get one of these.
