Breaking Down the Craft Room

I must admit that I much more productive when I’m working in an organized office space. I envy people who can keep a tidy workspace because I am not a neat person by nature. So, I’m sharing where I purchased all the furniture for my craft room in case it helps someone else get a little bit more organized.:)

Rubber Stamping Craft Room

1. Floating Shelf: SmartFurniture.com

2. Ribbon Organizer: Etsy Seller OrganizeMore

3. Magnet Board: Umbra at the Container Store

4. Pencil Cups and Rod: Ikea Grundtal towel rail, Asker containers, and Byger “S” hooks

5. Desk: Ikea Utby underframe and Vika Amon table top

6. Drawers on Casters: Ikea Helmer

Miscellany: Allison asked about my lamp (not shown) because my office seems bright. The light source is a cheap hand-me-down from a friend, but I use daylight bulbs instead of regular bulbs, which makes the room brighter.  The ribbon tree is from my old craft room, also purchased on Etsy. Now It houses ribbon spools that I use less frequently.

And just to prove to you that my neatness is all a charade, I’ll share some pictures of my messy craft closet:

Craft Stamp Organization

Yikes! Piles of stamps and knick knacks stuffed into boxes. Yes, that hanging contraption is typically used for clothing storage. No wonder it’s about to fall apart with the weight of my wood stamps.

Craft Stamp Organization

Stamps, stamps, and more stamps. Wood stamps take up SO much space. I’m very glad that Stampin’ Up released a line of repositionable clear stamps.

Card Stock Organization

This file box is the only organized section of my craft closet. I separate my card stock by hanging file folders labeled with a tiny swatch of color.

Stamp Closet Storage

My stamp collection is overflowing and my closet is bursting at the seams. I have a secret plan to take over the husband’s side of the office. I don’t think he’ll mind studying in the hallway, do you?;)

I unmounted all my SU stamps a while ago and mounted them with cling mount. Saved a lot of space :)

So pretty! Even the mess… I’ve been on the search for green boxes… do you recall where they came from?

The work area looks great! Our closets are pretty much stuffed with stuff too. No one looks there right? =p Wow! That’s a lot of stamps though!

@talda: You can get the daylight bulbs at drugstores like Walgreens or Home Depot. They’re a little cheaper online though. Amazon sells them too. They even come in energy efficient versions.

@Louchia: Super smart! I wish i thought of that. Now I’m too lazy to unmount them.

@calisara: The green boxes are from Ikea. Super cheap too!

@Joyce: Thank goodness for closet doors, right? :)

haha…I was about to ask yesterday where you kept your stamps. My stamps invade every part of my house, I recently got them off the dining room table so I don’t have to eat on the couch anymore.

Your room looks so lovely, I envy you a dedicated craft space. My whole flat is just a bombsite of papers and ribbons and everything else!

Love your blog! Do you mind sharing what the font you used for the craft room photo is called? Thanks in advance!

lovely room!!! two questions!!

1. where did u buy the white chair?? is it sturdy and comfortable?? was looking for something similar but no luck as there are many options for dark ones but not too many for whites!!

2. just bought the blackbrown utby bar table myself recently… but really wanted to buy a white one instead and as u know the vika amon offers white… so i was doing some google research to see what the difference between utby tabletop and vika amon were and randomly came across ur website… was wondering whether the vika amon is sturdy and durable as it is cheaper than the utby one??? and if the paint job on the vika amon chips off easily as these were the comments i had found on other websites…???

i’ll be using the table as a desk but was told that the vika amon is hollow inside so it may not hold onto the frame but the utby tabletop seems like it’s hollow too so i don’t know what to think now…. help???

much appreciate ur advice!! :)

p.s. what is that lovely font you used?? it’s sooo pretty!!

really would love to return the utby tabletop more so after looking at ur photo!!

I have the same questions as Veronica. Love the chair! Where from? And do you like the vika amon table top? Is it sturdy? I need a computer workspace and LOVE what you’ve done.

Hi

What color is the paint in your craft room? I have had such a hard time finding a blue I like.

Thanks!!

Kelly Nicole - May 19, 2010 - 1:49 am

Hi Kathy,

The color is summer shower by Benjamin Moore. :)

Kelly Nicole - May 19, 2010 - 1:53 am

@MM, I love the Vika Amon! It’s super sturdy. I have no problems with it at all. The chair is this one in white: http://www.chiasso.com/store/item.aspx?DepartmentId=111&ItemId=55629 except I got it at a local furniture store in SF. hope that helps!

Hehe I am so getting the wall hanging thing from Etsy…but just have to figure out which one I want. Once I get everything all in order, I’ll be posting more pics…of the craft room and baby room! ;)

Suz - June 18, 2010 - 1:44 pm

Haha ok I’m getting this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/38746535/ink-pad-ribbon-spool-combo-organizer (since I need some space to store the pads I’ve now kicked out of my pad turnstile). I also spent time reorganizing everything (pads/papers) into the new color families…took me forever!
