Video Cards
Video Card: Central Park
Happy post Valentine’s day/President’s day!
I hope your long weekend was relaxing and wonderful. I, unfortunately, had to work yesterday. It’s a side effect of working an office job for a retail company–I miss all the good holidays. Hubs and I had some water issues over the V-day weekend, so we packed up our bags and spent a weekend at my parents’ where I exercised my rusty craft hands. Thus, I have a video to share with you today–yay! I made a card using one of my new favorite stamp sets in the spring/summer SU catalog. The set is called Central Park. Even the name of it makes me want to hop on a plane and fly to New York. Hubs might plan a NY trip for us soon because he wants to see Jimmy Fallon’s late night show (Hubs is a little bit obsessed with the guy). Anyway, to create the card I also used SU’s spiral punch that I just ordered and really like. I’ve used it on a bunch of cards lately because it adds a simple, yet creative touch. I hope you like it!
Music: Right as Rain by Adele from her CD 19–a great CD! I highly recommend it.

Interactive Owl Card
I’m so happy! I hung out with my upline this weekend (the demonstrator that I signed up under) and she generously gifted me with two sets of brand new stamps. One was an adorable set of owl themed images called Owl Together Now. Apparently, owls are quite the trend lately. I happily mounted and played with the stamps over the weekend and came up with a cute interactive card idea to share.
This card is a bit more complicated than my usual cards and it includes moving parts, so I prepared a video tutorial for you to watch. As you can see in the two pictures below, the owl on the right slides back and forth, into the arms of the owl on the left. Cute, no?

Card Recipe (all supplies SU unless noted): Owl Together Now stamp set, cardstock and ink in baja breeze, chocolate chip, riding hood red, and whisper white, ribbon in chocolate chip, Haiku designer paper, water color pencies, aqua painter pen, stampin’ dimensionals, sewing machine & white thread.
In the video, I explain how to make the slider portion of the card. You can use this idea for all kinds of cards, like a moving animal on a baby card, a snowflake falling to the ground, etc. Interactive cards are an easy way to impress a recipient.
Enjoy!

Video Card #3: Season’s Greetings
Now that Halloween is officially over, it’s time to break out the decorations. Hubs and I didn’t give out any candy this holiday. I totally forgot to buy candy. When I arrived home from work on Halloween evening, I was terrified to see my front porch light turned on and hear the trampling of kids feet heading towards our door; I had zero sweets to give, minus a package of Chinese milk candy that would probably result in good egging of our house. So, instead of handing out tablets of melamine death, I opted to turn out all the lights and hide in the dark until the kids were gone. Poor kids; I’m such a bad neighbor!
I have another video card for you today. In the spirit of the upcoming festive season, this one is a holiday card. I did some embossing and I also dyed a piece of chipboard red using a pigment ink cube (SU Craft Stampin’ Spot). Enjoy!

Video Card #2: Dreams du Jour
Guess what I have for you all today… a video! I made a quick and easy card this weekend, so I thought you might enjoy watching the process. The video is blurry because I used the zoom function on the Flip Video cam, which does not work well because it’s an optical zoom. Oh well. Hope you enjoy it anyway!
For this card, I used an easy peasy watercolor technique to paint the image. First, I stamped my image with Stazon ink (solvent ink that is waterproof so the ink will not run when it is colored). Then, I used a nylon brush with a built in water reservoir (SU’s aqua painter brush) plus a bit of water-based dye ink to color the image. The video will show it in detail:

And below, the finished card. I haven’t made a rustic looking card in a while, so I’m digging the French script background stamp.

Card Recipe: (All supplies SU unless otherwise noted) Dreams du Jour (11624) and En Francais (109521) stamp sets, card stock in kraft and chocolate chip, inks in kiwi kiss, riding hood red, chocolate chip, and sahara sand, striped ribbon in riding hood red, stampin’ dimensionals, watercolor paper, Stazon timber brown solvent ink.
